History

Byron’s first firehouse was built in 1922

Over the decades, this historic building housed City Hall, council chambers, Byron’s volunteer fire department and ambulance service, along with several charitable organizations. Purchased in December 2001 by local firefighters Randy & Jeff Hogan and family, this venture has been a labor of love. The south side of the restaurant was the original City Hall. The center brick wall stood 14’ high & 14” wide and was lowered during renovation to it’s current height of 4’. The wood floor and trim are also original. The north side of the restaurant housed Byron’s First Firehouse, then later housed the Ambulance Service and then the Police Department. The “Brotherhood Room” to the west honors and salutes our local heroes. Many members of the community have donated labor, ideas, and memorabilia. We could not have made this tribute to our heritage without them. Pictures or plaques hang in the Brotherhood Room and around the Fifth honoring them and their contributions.

Enjoy your time with us—absorb a little Byron history and know that we thank all of you for stopping in whether to dine, visit, or just reflect.
